Important: A manufacturer's warranty and statutory consumer protection are not necessarily the same thing. Nothing in this policy is intended to remove a consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.
1. Statutory consumer protection
For South African transactions, qualifying goods are subject to the consumer protections provided by applicable South African law.
Where a statutory warranty or other mandatory consumer protection applies, LeAgo will deal with the customer's claim in accordance with that law.
2. Manufacturer warranties
A manufacturer may provide its own warranty for a product. The duration and conditions depend on the specific product.
A manufacturer's warranty may specify the warranty period, covered components, service location, exclusions, registration requirements and claim procedure.
Customers should retain their LeAgo invoice or other proof of purchase.
3. LeAgo's role
Where a manufacturer or supplier provides warranty support, LeAgo may assist the customer with communicating with the relevant party.
LeAgo does not manufacture the products sold through the Smart Shop and does not automatically assume the manufacturer's warranty obligations.
Where statutory consumer rights apply, those rights remain unaffected.
4. Making a warranty or product claim
Customers should contact:
info@leagopropsolutions.comPlease provide, where available:
- Order or invoice number
- Product name and model
- Serial number
- Date of purchase
- Description of the problem
- Photographs or videos
- Relevant troubleshooting information
5. Troubleshooting
Before a product is returned, LeAgo or the relevant manufacturer or supplier may request reasonable troubleshooting.
This may include checking power supply, cables, batteries, network connections, settings, software, installation or configuration.
Troubleshooting does not mean that a customer has accepted responsibility for a defect.
6. Product assessment
Where necessary, the product may need to be assessed by LeAgo, the supplier, distributor or manufacturer.
The assessment may determine whether the reported problem is a manufacturing defect, component failure, software-related problem, installation issue, accidental damage, misuse, normal wear or another cause.
The appropriate remedy will be determined in accordance with applicable law and the circumstances of the claim.
7. Circumstances that may not be covered by a manufacturer's warranty
Manufacturer warranties commonly contain exclusions. Depending on the product, these may include:
- Accidental damage
- Misuse or abuse
- Unauthorised repairs
- Unauthorised modifications
- Incorrect installation
- Failure to follow instructions
- Use outside specified operating conditions
- Water or moisture exposure
- Power surges or unsuitable electrical supply
- Physical damage
- Normal wear and tear
- Consumable components
This section does not remove any statutory consumer rights.
8. Installation
Customers are responsible for ensuring that products requiring professional installation are installed appropriately.
Where installation is not expressly included with the product, the purchase price does not automatically include installation.
LeAgo does not automatically accept responsibility for damage caused by the acts or omissions of an independent installer.
9. Software, applications and connected products
Some products depend on mobile applications, cloud services, internet connectivity, software updates or third-party platforms.
LeAgo does not control the continued operation or availability of third-party platforms.
Where a product requires a third-party service to operate, customers should also consider the manufacturer's applicable terms and requirements.
10. Replacement products
Where a replacement is appropriate, the replacement may be subject to availability.
LeAgo does not guarantee that an identical model will remain available throughout the life of a product.
Where an identical product is unavailable, the appropriate remedy will be determined in accordance with applicable law and the circumstances of the transaction.
11. Repairs
Where repair is the appropriate remedy, the product may be repaired by the manufacturer, supplier or authorised service provider.
Repair times may depend on availability of parts, manufacturer processes, supplier processes, technician availability, shipping or circumstances outside LeAgo's direct control.
12. No additional LeAgo warranty
Unless expressly stated otherwise on the relevant product page or in a written agreement, LeAgo does not provide an additional independent commercial warranty beyond applicable statutory consumer protections and any express warranty specifically stated for the product.
Nothing in this clause limits any mandatory consumer right.
13. Botswana and other countries
Warranty availability may vary depending on the country in which a product is purchased, delivered, installed or used.
Manufacturer support may be territory-specific and local service centres may not always be available.
LeAgo will not represent that every manufacturer offers identical warranty support in every country unless this has been confirmed for the particular product.
14. Proof of purchase
Customers should retain their LeAgo invoice, Pro Forma Invoice, payment confirmation and other relevant transaction records.
LeAgo may request reasonable proof of purchase when processing a claim.
15. Statutory rights remain protected
Nothing in this Warranty Policy excludes, restricts or waives a consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.
Where a mandatory legal requirement provides greater protection than this policy, the mandatory legal requirement will prevail.
